What trans

Need help deciding on what transmission to pick up...... I recently bought a 02 Avalanche 1500 engine no transmission attached what years transmission could be compatible or do I need one for that year truck? I'm not a tech or mechanic so excuse the dumb questions I may ask lol

Those trucks only every came with a 4L60 or a 4L80E auto trans. These are everywhere. You should still have the module for the original trans if not, grab one form the donor vehicle (preferably a mid 2000s gm truck with a v8 and of course auto). A quality rebuilt one can be upto 2 grand if you want a custom one. Otherwise most yards have early 2000s 1500-3500 trucks lying around. Easy pickings.

If you don't use what came with the engine, like a 4L60 etc, and use an older type trans, the flex plate etc will be different for that type, to bolt the converter on etc...
