I did my 82 all gloss black. The door handles, window trim, locks, tail lights etc. are done in a satin trim paint. Whatever you decide will be cool, do it the way you like it best. It's alot of work but worth it in the end.

Thanks. Rough it up good with 220 paper and use black epoxy sealer. I used VHT SP27 trim paint. It has a very slight texture to it and the contrast against the shiny black is perfect.

The gloss black looks great! I would stay away from satin, no offense meant to anyone, but it looks like you primed your car and couldn't afford to paint it.

I really like that silver & black Cutty. Sharp & tasteful. Also owning an all black car they get really hot in the sun the silver top would help that a lot. Anymore pics or info on that car?

yeah i liked that one to it was done very cealn and tastful.but.im kinda thinkin stain silver in satin black 2 tone but i really like the all blacked out look.as much as i like my chorme bumperas and and stainless steel trim i think im going to do it any ways.i still got a bit to wait b4 i can even paint it so ima think about it a little longer.but i still want to kno what yall think about doing it all satin black with matte black rally stripes. eveyone iv talked to bout doin it is diggin it so we'll just have to wait in see what happins

Satin black is great. But don't do the flat black stripes. I just don't think there will be the right amount of contrast between satin and flat. It would look more like you just scuffed the satin where the stipes are. If you really want the stripes do gloss black with satin stripes or satin black with gloss stripes.

dogshit: Actually that's a picture of the all black Cutlass the OP used as an example. The paint was just very shiny and the sun was causing the illusion of it being two-tone. If anyone would actually like to paint one like that though they are more than welcome.

cutlass79: I felt the same way about the trim on my Regal. I constantly thought about blacking it out but I never had the supplies to do it right, and eventually the chrome just kinda grew on me so now I'm keeping it.

I guess I'm the naysayer in the thread

I've never been a fan of the painted bumpers because it reminds me of the monochrome fad. I think the '81+ Cutlass can pull it off because there isn't as much chrome exposed to begin with.
