Thanks for input guys. And yes just looking for a streetable car no forged parts have been investigating summit parts and Craigslist I will be assembling my self at my dad's shop. 9:5:1 I'd be happy with flat tops but cylinder head still looking around.considering vortec's

You've made no mention of budget. If it's at least $2500, then you're in just the right spot for a Skip White 383 kit. The parts and quality are in the 'much better than stock' range but extremely reasonably priced. A Vortec headed build of any displacement is difficult to beat for daily driving/cruising type builds in terms of both performance and price.

Let us know the budget and I'm sure we can direct you.

A Vortec 350 with 9.5-1 and an LT4 hot cam makes 400-420 at the crank. So, I would look at either an LT4 Hot Cam or either an L82 (3896962 GM cam).

The 290 Horse 350 GM crate engine has the L82 cam an 76cc heads.

Plenty street-able and gobs of usable power.

Super Chevy did some dyno tests on both dual planes and air gap intakes seem to be the best setup. Only like short 10-14 horses down from a Victor Jr.
