I picked up this ratchet last week pretty cheap used.

Took it apart cleaned it up re greased it.

It is an Armstrong made in USA 3/8 drive.

i have to say it is the most comfortable ratchet I ever used.

I wouldn't hesitate for a second to pick up a 1/4 and 1/2 if they came my way.

Looks like a snap-on a little

Yes it does the internals are almost identical too.

But the Armstrong handle is really nice.

OK so I just got my Titan/Klutch ratchets.

Opened the box grab that 1/4' out and it's broke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unused and broken!!!!!!!!! 😡

OOFA!!!!! :eyecrazy:

I called Northern about it and they said "Sorry do you want a refund or a replacement"

Either way I do not have to send back the tool.

Northern service so far excellent!

First time I have ordered from them in 20+ years.

I know these are Taiwan tools and I didn't buy them thinking they were the best.

I did buy them for the cool looking factor.

Pop the trunk at a car show and show your trunk tools thing.

The ratchets themselves have what looks like to me a non removable spring clip that holds in the internals.

I will have to pop one off and find a replacement.

The issue with the 1/4" is the selector lever will move slightly to the center while tightening and jam the ratchet.

Loosening it seems OK........so far

I will say this they are extremely comfortable in your hand

1/2" and 1/4" side by side.

This pic is of the 1/4" only notice the positions of the selector.

Still have a lot of my shop tools. A lot of the stuff is Snap-on as far as swivel sockets, ratchets, wrenches and specialty stuff. Snap -on boxes, SK Wayne stuff. A little bit of everything. Some tools brands do a better job at some things than others. I always tried to fit the tool to the job. Harbor Freight is good for some stuff but Snap-on is awesome for others. How often do you use it and for what specific need. I had a cheap pair of channel locks slip and made me hurt and say bad words. In the circular file they went.

Took it apart it was lubed. Not a lot but it wasn't dry.

Cleaned it re lubed it put it back together same issue.

Apart again together again same issue.

Apart played with detent spring, a hair better.

Apart yet again played with spring again and same nonsense.

So I guess the spring, detent pin or pawl is messed up.

When the "new" one gets here I will see how that one works.

If its the same the 1/4" ones are JUNK.

The 1/2" one was well lubed and again the handle is extremely comfortable.

If the "new" one is better then I will grab a spring and detent pin from my gun kit and see if I can solve the problem.

Here is a pic.

Just wondering is there am actual store front that sells tools made in the USA anymore?

Home Dopey China
Lowes China
Sears China (for now) Hopefully Stanley will start making them in the USA soon.

I know a lot of the China stuff has improved over the years.

But I just want a darn tool with MADE IN USA in it.
automotive bolts are metric now. why would you want tools made by people that dont understand the nuts they are turning lol
