Thanks for any help/info, Rob

As long as it hasnt been previously treated, I prefer using nothing and keeping the car garaged.

On my 3 1983 regals, they are all on their original vinyl landau tops. None have ever been treated with anything, and all look like brand new.

Common thread is garage kept by myself or prior owners and washed with mild high quality car soap since new. One car was ours since new and in new england the first 20 years of its life, the second I bought used with 44k on it, it also was a new england car for 24 years then the last decade in the deep south, and the final one was a sc/ga car since new.

So temp and part of the country had nothing to do with it. In my experience, "conditioners" and "protectants" leach the natural oils out of the material and turn the surface into the equivalent of a frying pan in high heat times of the year...

Just as with washing a car, never do it in direct sunlight or on super humid or hot days. I've had good luck with minimal amounts of tire gel but I highly doubt that's the correct material to use.
