Just wanted confirmation that the set of tires and wheels I found on craigslist will fit my 1978 El Camino before I spend the $400 on them. As far as I can tell from the wheel and tire fitment thread they should, but just want to make sure. They are American Racing Torque Thrust 2.1 17x7 with 5x4.75 bolt pattern and 4 inches of back spacing. The tires are new Nitto NT 450's 225/50R17.

Any responses are greatly appreciated!

Those should be spot on man! I have some american racing 17x7's that will eventually have the same size tire for the front of my cutlass. It might look kinda skinny in the rear though as most G's can fit a 255/45/17 without issues.

Awesome, thanks! By chance do you know what the widest tires I could fit on those rims?

Here is a pic of a malibu i have saved for reference. This car is running 17x7 front with 225/50, 17x8 rear with 255/45. I think the stance is spot on!

Just noticed thses have a minimum rim width of 7 in. How much bulge is too much or bad? Or does it differ per manufacturer

I've got 1980's z28 and 235r60 x 15 on my El Camino. They're 7" wheels with 4.25" back spacing. My front is lowered 2". I have to run a 5/16" spacer on front to clear upper arm. They hit at full droop without the spacer. In the back the spacers are needed to clear the frame. The fronts also rub on fender well at full droop both with or without the spacer.

17's should be fine with that backspacing. Up to about 4.4 - 4.5" BS will work in front with 17's. 15's would very likely rub all over with anything over 4", but 17's should clear the tie rods and A-arms.

4" will work OK in back. 3.75" is ideal with a 7" rim, but 1/4" won't matter with 225 tires.
