If I want to run a 255-60 on a 15x8 rim what backspacing do I need to not rub?

Thanks.

That is my plan as well.

The 15x7 SSIII's on the 442's have a bs of 4". Now bump that to a 15x8, you still want to have a bs of 4". That moves the outer part of the wheel and tire towards the outside, but still keeps the correct clearance between the tire and frame. Should fit with no problems. That is what I plan on doing.

I run 255/60's on my stock 7" rims... fits perfect and looks great.

If you're going to an 8" rim, why not step up to a 275?

As long as it won't rub, and doesn't stick out past the body line of the car, sure. Especially since hopefully I will soon be running a 455. It won't stick out or rub, will it?

4 inch backspacing on a 8" wheel should be just about right . I have 275/60s on 8" wheels with 4" bs on my Camino. I get a little rub on the outside of the tire if there's too much load in the bed. Ideal for me would be 4 1/8". With 255's you should be fine.

With 4 1/2"BS, the tire may rub the frame where the frame rail widens behind the axle, assuming your frame has the same contours as my Camino frame. You may need a 1/4" spacer. Up front, with any BS larger than 4", the wheel will rub the upper control arm, and the tire will rub the frame rail. I tried a 7" wheel with 4 1/8 BS and a 235/60 T/A tire. The control arm lip can be bent for clearance, but a 235/60 rubs the frame, and won't allow me to turn full lock.

I'm ruuning 255/60s on 15x8's with 3.5" bs and it fits perfect. I mean perfect. The wheel and tire are perfectly centered in the wheel well.
