I'm in the middle of building a street/strip 78 Monte. I rebuilt a Chrysler 8 3/4 rear end with Moser axles/Chevy bolt pattern. It has wheel studs that are 1/2-20 3inches long. Its on Weld Racing Prostars. This new rear end is about an inch shorter on each side so now there is a 1/4 of an inch between the tire and frame.

Will running 1/2 inch spacers harm anything? I don't plan on taking it to the strip this way. The problem is I need to get it at least drive able, so I can get it back and fort from my new shop to home. I share this shop with 2 other guys and I don't want to leave it there too long if I don't have to, it just gets in the way. New rims with the proper back space and drag radials are on the priority list but I don't want to have the new tires just sitting on it.

Thanks.

I would say for your temporary situation I personally don't see any issue running a 1/2" spacer on the rear, the 1/2" studs are far stronger and at 3" long will still provide more than adequate thread engagement for the open end 1/2" lugnuts.
Make sure you buy some billet spacers not those cheap slotted cast ones.
Also most spacers come with 3 bolt circles 4.25, 4,50 and 4.75 while others come with 4.50, 4.75 and 5.00, the spacer with the 5.00 bolt pattern will be larger in diameter and are a requirement on some rims like Convo Pros because the rear mounting surface is not flat, I am not sure about the Prostars but make sure the spacers fit correctly against the mounting surface of the rim.
