Hello there all, first post here on the GBF...Okay, I want to do a wider tire in the back and skinnier in the front to give it a more aggressive look to match the chevy small block 355 I have in it, question is, what are the wheel sizes and tire sizes I can do so. I want a slightly staggered look with either a 15x10 and 14x7 in front or something less aggressive like a 17x9 in back and 16x6 in front. Anyone have any pictures I can check out to get a idea of what some of your set ups look like?

Thanks to all, JB

I would go with a 15" x 8" or 8.5" in the rear, a 15" x 10" even with a frame notch would be a very tight fit if you are trying to not have the tire stick out. For the front why not just go with a 15" x 7" or 15" x 6" and a shorter tire rather than a 14" rim.
You limit your options on rim choices when you try to use two different diameter rims and 15" has probably the most choices in tire sizes.

X2. Back in the day, I had 15x6 up front with 215-65-15 tires(you could run 235-60-15 as well) and I had 15x8's on the back with 295-50-15's. I believe the b.s. for the rears was 4 or 4.25 inch. I had to run a 1/4 inch spacer. I also had to run air shocks. If that sounds of interest, I can upload a pic if ya want? 10 in wide wheels are a pain on these cars. Olds rallyes are hard to beat on these cars tho IMO! I currently have the 15x7 inch hursts on, i'd like to find some 255 or 265 60 series tires for the back, but they're dang near impossible to find.

Car looks sharp. FWIW for cheap with the rims you have you can run a 205/70/14 ie 25.4" tall up front and a 245/60/14 ie 25.6" tall in the rear to give it a slight rake and the fatties & skinneys looks. Plus your speedo & odometer would still be correct. 6.4" tread width up front and 8.5" in the rear so just over 2" for an immediate distinction when people look at your car.

To 565bbchevy, what's the wheel set up you have on your 83? That's about the exact look I want to acheive
