well I now have replaced fender, ball joints, wheel bearings, U joints all in the last week. I would now like to replace all 4 tires. A friend gave me 4 used ones, but the tires have blown out bulge spots on the sidewalls kinda risky driving it. So what are some really good 14 inch tires or better yet what are some good rim sets in the 14-17 inch area. Anyone got some good web sites. What work will I need done if any to accomadate these new rims if I got them? New hub I believe correct? 😀
do you have though to go with those rims., I think ill look into those cragar rims, those are cheap as hell and look nice, my next question is what is the stock disc brake in front and hubs in back, in other words what rims will bolt up so I wont have to change the hubs and what not?? I dont know the dimensions, who does? THis way ill know what kinda rims I can get. Tires im still not sure about. Id like some sportier tires though ones that get good grip on wet roads and ice for like march april oct and nov. weather. I wont be drivign my car anymore through winters, its got a ton of surface rust. This winter im plannin on getting it at least primered then the following summer getting it painted. The motor is going to have to be last. 😀
If you are going 14 inch tire you can run a 235/60/14 all around. This gives a more aggressive look without changing rims. I will be doing this sometime because I am going with the Olds rallye wheels.
www.discountwheelwarehouse.com I got a set of Chrome fatlip 18'' Giovanna 6 blade rims with kumo tires shipped less than 1 week $1400 + ~ 90 shipping
might not be what your looking for, but you should at least ck it out took me a couple hours to find some attractive rims floating around on there, but I sure found them. I couldn't go anywhere w/out people trying to buy my car after I got these rims. Anyway, obviously you wouldn't be looking to run anything higher than a 17, which is what I'm running on my 88 Cutlass. My 17'' Billet 5 blade rims w/ B caps get complimented on the daily, also cost me $1400. So if you're willing to wait, for only a few hundreds more than you were planning on spending you might come up with something really good.
good luck
ps im riding BF Goodrich t/a 's and I wouldnt ride anything else on my Cutlass unless I went back to Illinois, in which case for Northerners I'd recommend trying to find some discounted Michellin LM22's (yeah snow tires but dont tune out yet)
for 13-16'' wheels they ride absolutely beautifully even when its not snowing, SILENT tires. and now that the more exp LM26 is out they went down in price.
I think 87GP meant 245/60/14s on the back. fwiw always having at least one gbody in my driveway since 1986 I have been through several sets of the most common rwl BFG Radial TAs and they are a good looking tire. But honestly they are a cheap very old technology tire. Haveing owned two sets of inexpensive also good looking rwl Firestone Firehawk Indys imo they beat the bfgs in every catagory hands down with maybe looks being a toss up.
