Neither. Those are just regular 14x6 chevy ralleys that came on many g-body monte carlos. At least they look decent and are better than hub caps.

i believe malibu's had those as well

anyone got any ideas on how to get the chrome back to being shinny again. i tried wax, it worked alittle is there anything else you can use. let me kno thanks

I don't believe those areas are chrome. I believe it is just a highly relective paint. Like the chrome paint you get in the auto stores.

So, those marks are probably enbedded into that paint and you aren't going to get it any more shiny unless you repaint.

You can test this by picking out an inconspicuous area and scratching at it to see what is underneath.
Also, you can get a can of that chrome paint and mask off an area and paint a tiny spot to see how it matches.

So my theories are that those are just painted wheels and the chrome looking part is just chrome paint.
If it where a chrome wheel the whole wheel would have had to start off as a completely chrome wheel. If the back of the wheel is not chromed then it definatly is not a chrome wheel.

does the chrome paint really work or am i going to paint it and the first time i wash the wheels its going to peel off

I have not used the chrome paint on any exterior surfaces. But have on a few interior surfces with good results. I believe it is just like regular paint and if you prep it good it should be ok.

I have done a set of Pontiac ralleys (with silver and grey paint) and if you prep it properly (ie lightly sand off, get rid of rusty areas and general surface prep ready for paint etc...), you can get good results. I took my time and was very careful to mask off (I also bought a masking kit special made for the ralleys which made it a bit easier) and I did a Medium amount of prep (not exactly followed the book, I hate painting). But, then i made sure I clear coated it with a few coats and that helps to make it last longer. But I rarely drive them in any weather so they have stood up perfectly.

Also, you may get away with doing just spots (areas) on yours that need it. It looks like those wheels could be a b*tch to mask off thou.
What you have done to them so far looks good to me.
All depends on what you expect for end results.
You also could have someone bead blast them if you want to really start from scratch.

Just looked at several of those wheels at our local junkyard (on Montes, and elcaminos and an SS monte has one on it) and they are not chromed wheels.

It looks like the chrome (looking) portion on the wheels I inspected are just a very light silver paint (maybe argent?) and they all looked the same as far as color (although some were clearly in better looking condition than others).
Don't know what the dark color is on them.

I saw a set of these factory Ralley/Sport wheels for sale on fleabay and they were listed as 15". Anyone know if these did actually come in 15"s?

BTW, there are several companies like Eastwood that sell paint just for road wheels.
