There's of course this site, craigslist....
Our local paper's classifieds never has these cars, there is one ad magazine called Tradewinds that usually has a few. The days of driving around and spotting them are few are far in this area. Anyways, my question is, where else are yall finding these cars? Or, where have you bought your car? Kind of getting tired of seeing the same few on CL. I want to look elsewhere.

Not much help but i found my cutlass on craigslist in another town 4 hours away in the country, may help to broaden your search to other towns within a decent driving range if you haven't already.

I work at a parts store so word of mouth is common. Public classifieds and driving around. Every g body I have bought has been from seeing it sitting in a persons yard for sale or just sitting behind a shed and I make an offer. I have seen about a half a dozen for sale within 10 miles of my home. I saw a couple on my way to work for about 3 weeks, they are gone now. There is a guy at one of the shops I deal with selling a restored Monte Carlo. So depending on where you live you almost trip on them when you are out and about. I honestly won't even waste my time with craigslist anymore. They typically end up being pieces of sh*t when I get there or they aren't at all what they were described to be.

Yeah, I have a sister in memphis which is about 5 hours away. I've been looking outside my area on craigslist. But I agree with Chris O. A lot of times they're junk. I guess that's what you get with free advertising.

I use to love driving around with my dad looking for old cars. I think I might take a Saturday here soon and do just that.

I still think Craigslist is the best bet and I see plenty of gbodies locally but the problem around here in Metro Detroit is people think a gbody regardless of the shape it is in is worth its weight in gold, many don't run and need a lot of body work and have a list of repairs just to make them a driver.
I like the ones that say it doesn't run but the trans and rear end work perfect and so how can you prove that to me if I have to tow it home.
The ones around a $1000 look like they should be parted out (if there are any) and sent to the junkyard and I would say it takes at least $3000+ to get a decent clean one that still has small issues.
I think because Craigslist is free you will see more gbodies but also since it is free you will see more junk from people that wouldn't waste money on a classified add and hope someone dumber than them will buy their junk.
I am constantly on the look out for a "deal" but I think I live in the wrong state.

Cutlass/Regal/Monte around here are on CL pretty much anytime.

Grand Prix not as much, but still turn up pretty often

Malibu/Grand Am/Lemans...forget about it. In the extremely unusual event that a Malibu turns up, it'll be a hacked-up beater way overpriced or donked to within an inch of it's life.

Around me the gbody cars have pretty much dried up. I have found a few driving around sitting in yards. Etc. other then that people who know what they have want top $$ for junk.

Searchtempest...
Search "all for sale/wanted". Mark "search titles only" and deselect "include Ebay results".
Search within "all" miles from your ZIP
Search one at a time. 78 Monte 79 monte etc...
You can open another window and keep using the internet as it searches your request.
You will find more deals than you can handle.

now that it cold sellers may have put them up but found a few worth restoring under $2000 monte, then olds a few grand prixs never an SJ ...i dont want the rims and kicker box they think that makes the price but then the guts aren;t reliable

Really I think its all about location, Craigslist is a great source for locating the cars. There are plenty of Gbody cars on there (Depending on where you live) and alot are nice. Now there are also a Sh** load of failed projects that are overpriced, as well as some overpriced driver cars.

As someone previously said, the Malibu's, LeMans, and GrandAms are harder to find (Malibus not so much near me)

It all comes down to patience and the will to go and get what you want. Also Good negotiating is at play. Show up with cash and most will make a deal for a couple bucks extra as long as your not totally disrespecting them.

I mean yes rural areas mean easier if any smog laws, but us big city guys get a bit more variety to choose from, we just have to do the PO Box thing

GOOD-LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH 8)
