O.k I have had the same problem with 2 diff. ign. set ups in just as many days. the car will be running just fine then all of a sudden die and there is no more spark. for reference the motor is a bbc. alright first ign. system was pro billet dist. with 6a box and blaster 2 coil. I ran the big red wire to the pos, on the battery and black to the ground, the little red wire was on my 12 volt ign. switch. At first the car ran fine then I had a run on problem, then it just quit with no more spark. I traced and checked every wire and found no problems. So the I installed a HEI to get the car moving and it fired right up.
Now the next day I go out to drive the car it fires right up again, so I take it on a little cruise and I mean little, 10 min. later the car dies while I'm driving it and will not start back up. Again there is no spark. I recheck all my wires and connections and they are all good, I even goes as far as running a 12 volt jumper wire straight from the battery to the dist. and still no spark. The car is an 87 cutlass All the wiring seems to be good I've tracked and checked every wire for the proper voltage readings. Right now I'm kinda of lost on what to check next. any help will be appreciated, Thanks Rickey

Have you tried using different plugs or wires? How does the engine ground look like?

Hey Rickey

I had the same problem once a while back,, my car would just die while driving then it would turn over but not start,,,no spark. I found that the ignition module in the distributor was no good, so i bought a brand new one and put it in and it started right up. Then i was driving it again and i took a sharp right corner and the car just died again! I tried to start it but again, it would turn over but no spark. Well i finally figured it out,,,,, the little wires that connect to the ignition module in the distributor were a little loose, the connection on these wires are just like a speaker terminal or spade terminal, so i just unplugged them and gave them a little squish with a pair of pliers so that they slid on the terminals of the module tightly,,no more loose play. I changed the module again and made sure that the terminals were tight and not loose on the connections and this cured my ongoing problem! Make sure that you put the dielectric grease that comes with the module on the bottom of the module or it will burn out prematurely. What was happening was the terminals were just loose enough that when i took it for a ride the movement would make the terminal move just enough to cause it to lose connection for a second which would in turn short out my module every time! I hope that this cures your problem,,,let me know cause i would bet anything that this is the same problem that you have!
By the way,,,the big red wire going to the distributor should be going to a fuse source and not straight to your battery,, this could also be your problem.

Sounds like an electrical problem, most likely ignition/ground and anything else before the spark plugs. It wouldn't make since for it to be the spark plugs because the likely hood of all of them being shot is very slim and if one or two are it wouldn't cause the whole car to die, just run very rough and possibly die because of that.

Check to make sure the Tach wire is not grounding out if its shorted out the car will die.
