Just curious as to what stores everyone here uses for parts. My options are NAPA, Autozone, PepBoys, Rock Auto and Advanced Auto. I generally find myself using NAPA as they have the most knowledgeable staff and best quality parts IMO. They also have a good selection of products and what they don't have in stock they can have in a couple hours.

Autozone would be my second choice as the staff is relatively knowledgeable but the parts quality isn't as great as NAPA. Duralast parts usually have good warranties though.

I really dislike PepBoys as the parts quality is awful, they never have what I need and the staff is a bunch of idiot kids. They used to have some older guys there who were retired mechanics that knew what they were doing but it seems they're no longer around. Advanced Auto is pretty much the same. I only go to Avanced if I want to get a Purolator filter, as they are the only ones locally who carry them.

I don't like using RockAuto because quality is kind of a crapshoot, I feel like I never know what I'm going to get with them, and I really don't like waiting for the mail and often don't have time when I'm working on customers' cars. I used to have Carquest which was second only to NAPA but they were recently bought out by Advanced Auto, so they are out of the mix. I don't have an O'reillys around me so I can't use them. What stores are good/bad near you?

I like Napa and I get 10% off with my CAA card. They always give me a better deal than what's on the computer and they stand behind their products. I had one guy misquoted me a price over the phone and they stuck to that price when I picked it up.

I have Autozone, Advance, Oreilly's, Napa and Pep Boys near me and all but Napa are within 4 miles of my house but typically I go to Autozone which is closest at 3/4 of a mile plus I like the rewards where you spend $20 five times you earn $20 so I try to make sure each time I go there if it is for me or work I spend a minimum of $20.
Also I like to shop around for the best price and regardless of where I go I look my parts up online and print out the page and hand it to whomever is behind the counter so I eliminate any possible error of looking something up.
As far as mail order I usually buy through Jegs and Summit and use their price match but occasionally I will buy from Rock Auto and other times on Ebay.

for little things things i use part source but i get really good deals at napa as well and i like that they stand behind there product. performance parts there are two i normally go to and it is marken performance and rudy helds performance.

I have Autozone, NAPA, and Parts Plus in my town. Autozone you get your choice of crap at the gold or silver level. But it's all store brand. If it's not an emergency, I go with RockAuto as I get some choices in brands, plus I get to figure it out for myself without being pressured about the latest countertop deal I don't need. If you get on the RockAuto mailing list, you can get a 5% discount periodically. Shipping and expensive core charges you don't want to eat can undermine the deal, though.
If you have a correct part number, Amazon Prime is hard to beat, but you get what you get. ACDelco is not what it used to be.
Craigslist has added to my inventory; EBay, not so much lately.
Summit, Jeg's, Pace Performance, and Scoggin-Dickey compete for my performance purchases, in that order. Summit has the best website for searching, but Jeg's sometimes beats their prices. Other than SummitBucks, I've never seen a discount code for them except for Black Friday/eMonday.

ssn696, glad you mentioned Amazon. I forgot all about them, but I have ordered a ton of stuff from Amazon. I've bought all kinds of parts for my Toyota Camry there. The prices are unbeatable and the tracking is nice too. Quality is a crapshoot but I've bought some good stuff from them.

Advance Auto is my first choice. Mostly because you can't beat promo code TRT30... 30% off purchases 50$ or more, $50 max discount. Buy online pickup in store or ship to you. I've used it many times.

Rockauto #1, occasionally Advance Auto if they have a good deal/sale. O'Reilly's, AutoZone, NAPA, only if it's an absolute emergency part, or if they have a smokin deal online

One thing I really like about my local NAPA is they don't try to upsell you on parts And they don't pressure you into buying their latest countertop deal like ssn696 said. They are real parts guys, selling quality parts to real mechanics. Even their 'ProSelect' line which is their cheaper stuff is pretty good quality. Their filters are USA made by Wix, and shocks are USA made by Monroe. Also forgot to mention my Triple A card gets me 10% off, and from what pontiacgp said, it sounds like you guys in Canada get the same deal with CAA.
