Where do you install a trans,temp guage?

I don't think that putting the temp sender in a T in the line would give as accurate of a reading as putting it in the pan itself...

yea i just threaded a hole into my transmission pan and screwed in the sender to it from the gauge. i dont know for sure if its the right way but i dont see anything wrong with it

That's definately not the right way to do it.
The pan alone doesn't provide enough contact on the surface of the threads to allow for a secure seal.
Be prepared for yours to leak or even fail.

i dont quite understand what u mean. doing what i did is no diffrent than a drain plug on an oil pan ive never had no problems with it leaking it goes completly in there i made sure it didnt interfere with anything internally in the transmission and put tread sealler on it i dont understand what would leak. now the guage failing i can understand that but not leaking i dont see the issue

and actully i just did alittle research on google. turns out thats how the truck guys did it on Das Bronco in the side of the pan

I must've just misunderstood you and thought that you just threaded the sender into the pan alone, not with some sort of threaded insert...

lol no buddy if i did that then u would be right it probly would leak and fail lol 😀

u will get yer best reading if u T into the inlet line going from the transmission to the cooler. If ya put the sensor in the pan all u are gettin is the temp reading of the fluid that has passed thru the cooler.

If you do it that way, then you will always have a high reading. That is when the temp is the hottest. The best reading would be in the pan where the fluid is actually being taken from by the pump and being used by the trans.
