 I mean the foam material that goes between the "back board" and the cloth that shows. $100 for just the foam seems kinda high IMO. I redid mine a year ago but I didnt peel the foam off I just reglued the fabric . . . big mistake.

ohh I thought you mean the backing board. hmmmm no idea about the foam.

Headliner material comes with the foam attached to the fabric. As mentioned if you have a Jo-anne fabric store local they sell it, it's called headliner material, lol. Last time I bought it, I think I paid 9.99 per yard.

I have seen those. but some of them were like $15 a square foot. I thought it was really high.

I guess i should first take some measurements. I would love to do some custom stuff but thats down the road.

You sure its not per square yard? That's how fabric is usually measured. And 15 per sq yd sounds right lol.
Not being a smartass, but in the upholstery business for 34 years, fabric is sold by the "running yd", most are 54" wide but can vary from 42"-72". So when you buy a "yd" of headliner it will be 36" x 54" or wider sometimes.

Thanks for the info! Il have to check it out next time im near a Jo-annes.

I want to do something custom with mine so how does the foam help?

All board type headliners with fabric have the foam pad attached to the fabric. Some of the older cars like mid seventies F-body cars that had perforated vinyl glued to a board didn't. Use only high temp glue. It can be any brand as long as it's for high temp aps. The absolute best is counter top contact cement sprayed on with a glue gun, but the can stuff will hold if you use it as you should by spraying it in a criss-cross pattern and use most of a can for typical small to medium headliner. Let it get tacky to almost feeling dry, press it down without stretching it too much.
