Looking to see where to get the thick 1" jute padding for under my carpet for the drivers and passengers front floor board. Any recommendations? The stock stuff was torn up and not the cleanest when removed. Thanks!
Thanks 69hurstolds no one local to me has any from my calling around. I live in a small town. What you fellas recommend I use for up front floor boards not sure what is the standard?
Here's where you can get some cheap samples of the padding so you can visualize what you want without getting stuck with a roll. Of course, you can get a roll in just about any automotive upholstery shops (did you check locally?)
Most of the pad rolls you'll find are thickest at 1/2", just put two layers down for 1" if that's what you want. The density is more important than thickness.
Lol..what do ya mean out pacing you 😂. Just seeking the valuable feedback this forum always gives me. Has saved me so much headache and trouble and keeps me on track for this build. 💪👍Dude, ya gotta stop outpacing me! That kit would probably work just fine but I'm thinking about Frost King Cotton Insulation cuz I'm cheap but also want 100% coverage. It checks all the right boxes: 16" x 48" x 1" thick, R value of 4, no VOCs, class A fire rated, and dampens noise for $13. One downside is that it compacts a little, which slightly lessens its effectiveness. Insulation works best when fluffed up, as it's the dead air molecules that are actually doing the insulating- fluffy coats are warm, no? Thermal/ sound insulation is completely different than thermal/ sound barriers- you either reflect or absorb. The air in the fluffy insulation acts just like the air between triple paned windows.

I plan on replacing my current padding with Frost King and using a CLD (Kilmat), decoupler (5 mil closed cell foam + foil), and possibly an MLV (rubber).

Linen repair tape works perfectly for the seams and it's cheaper than the foil tape, which isn't necessary for this anyway. The foil tape is for foil covered products and would potentially rip off easier due to being much stiffer than what it's holding. It costs more too.

Oh, it's the best place for useful information and for finding the barricades! Everyone is outpacing me because I've started 8 different things and haven't finished them yet. But you asked about strikers and jamb vents as I was researching them, and now you're onto the floors when I just bought padding and tape. You even brought up the rocker trim and wheel arches when I was looking for trim that would accommodate fiberglass bumpers. You're bird-doggin' me, man.Lol..what do ya mean out pacing you 😂.
