You don't have to buy a so called thumper cam to get a good sound. Check for lobe separation. They should be able to assist you when you call and talk with a tech. The roller is a good idea just for the fact that todays oil sucks!

The xr276 sounds like a monster in a 355... plus thumpr cams SUCK.

I've always been partial to the XE line. They've treated me very well. No need to sound fast if you aren't fast  .

ummm.... I think everyone forgot to ask.

I need to know more about the motor.

Engine size,
compression
type of heads and flow if you know it
intake
carb
stall speed
transmission
rear gear
tire size
what rpm range are you looking for.

you dont want a cam that sounds good but does nothing when your driving.

Exactly. There's nothing funnier than sitting at a light with a guy that has a huge cam in an otherwise stock engine. Sounds mean but couldn't get out of it's own way.

Call your favorite cam company and ask. Their tech lines are very helpful. Picking a cam by sound is not a good idea. I havent heard much good about the thumper cams as far as performance goes. Like was stated above you need to know the answers to those questions and be VERY HONEST with yourself in what you want out of your car. You are not gonna like shitty brakes and messed up power steering if you daily drive it but want a huge noisy cam. Just my 2 cents. Goodluck however you go.
