No need to ask ya'll............ Just build your engine around the XR276. Ask comp for the recommended compression and stall converter and match your gears accordingly. A set of vortecs and you'll be happier than you'll ever been in a car. Now if you want the sound only than just take a plug wire up and mess up the tune and you'll have the cackle.. but if you want one that performs. Just make sure you do everything right! And I hope you don't have a 305... Which I'm assuming you don't because the size of the cam you chose.

Im so glad others chimmed in about the right set up for the whole package...

if you want the "sound" you can really change the timing or you can also get the idle really really low.

Ive always been a fan of lunati. Ive used a few other their bracket II cams. There "find my cam" is nice. its a simple form to fill out and they will tell you your best option.

Im trying their VooDoo cam for my new motor project. Im hoping its as good as i hope.

the lift is where I want it.

Well my setup is as follows:

-74' 350 sbc 2-bolt, 2pc rear main 010 block (stock bore and stroke, new rotating assembly)
-9.5:1-9.7:1
-Brodix IK 180 aluminum heads (64cc comb., 180cc intake runner, 2.02/1.6 valves)
-Weiand 8150 High-rise dual plane (1500-6700) <--only mistake in building...little too much for my build
-Holley 650cfm 4150 for the time being, might grab a 750 for track days or if I need it normally
-2000 stall speed, probably gonna bump it up to 2200-2500
-85' 700r-4 (I built and upgraded with all the goodies: 30-spline shaft, 10-vane pump kit, shift kit, altered accumulator, beast sunshell, corvette gov & servo)
-8.5" w/ 3.73's
-26" tires all around for now
-start @1500-2000 to 5500-6000 was kind of range I was looking for

The real reason I polled is b/c I wanted the XE cam and know it makes a wee bit more power , but I also want a nice parking lot appeal so the thumpr was real close to the XE power and everyone tells me they sound amazing...I have no experience with the thumpr cams.

Curious to ask whats everyones opinion on a driveshaft? should I stay with stock one or beef it up? and beef it up to what?

Yea. He already gave all his specs in another thread but it is good idea to repost like you did.. but the XE makes a good sound and you will be so much happier with it over the thumpr.

Im going to have to say stay away from the thumpr.

sounds like a nice set up.

dont worry about parking lot appeal. youll get it either way.

Whats your estimated horsepower and torque rating on the engine? Are you going to be doing a lot of sticky launches? Trans brake? From what I gather your building a stout street car with a little track time. Most the time you can get away with a quality set of U joints and utilize a stock driveshaft.

Yup pretty much hit the nail on the head, nice street car with a little track time. No trans brake. est hp is somewhere in the 380-400 range and if I recall right I think torque was in the 400-420 range
