I have a 1984 Hurst Cutlass Im trying to decide wether I should retain my OEM non-functional hood scoop or converting over to a shaker setup I've aquired from a 1979 Pontiac trans am...Im not to worried about keeping it factory as I've already done quite a bit a of mods including removing the original engine in favor of an LT1 EFI setup...What do you guys think?

I always wonder about taking an original limited-supply car then modifying it to the point that masks its original uniqueness. I mean, if one was to take all the extras off, why not just start with a base model?

Best advice is to save your factory hood and get a salvage yard hood to modify....if you have to modify it.

Or leave it alone....the scoop you have is one if the things that makes your car unique already. I for one would keep that car as original as possible. The Hurst's are so cool and getting hard and harder to fund un-butchered or that are not totally worn out.

PS if you do remove your scoop and don't plan to re-use it please PM me. I'd love to have one on my '88 Cutlass to match the spoiler I already have. ; )

Black Front Lower Air Dam
Silver Deck Lid Spoiler
Hurst/Olds Front License Plate

Red Lettered Hurst/Olds Door Script Decal and Right-Hand Lower Deck Lid Script
Sport Steering Wheel
Sport Console
Gage Package with Tachometer
Hurst/Olds Instrument Panel Emblem
Lightning Rod Shifters
Maple Red interior

I love shaker hoods but like Blake said it wouldnt be functional on that. I would get a stock but functional hood for it if anything.

Leave the stock hood. I like shakers but it wouldn't look right and since you have fuel injection it would be pointless anyway. That said if you want to see a functional Hurst clone hood check out my pics.

Fair enough... For sure keep the original hood stock if you do decide to do something more extreme.

The shaker hood will give you no performance gain.

Very sad to see a rare Hurst Olds desecrated with another Chevy engine.

At least he didn't part it out just to harvest the 8.5 rear like so many idiots do...
