there are 2 cutlasses around here that im looking at and don't know which to get. here are the options:

1) 79 cutlass 2 door with a rebuilt 305 and a th350,88,*** original miles, factory duel exhaust, column shifter no rust. needs paint, shocks and 1 frame rail. comes with an extra bumper, hood and a 442 fin.

2) 81 cutlass 2 door has a 305. dunno about the trans or frame rails but it was braced for drag racing and has a kill switch. also has column shifter and has no rust. needs paint, exhaust work and maybe frame work.

now both cars are $700 and i don't know which one to get. i would get both but i have no room so which one would you guys get?

dang... both isnt an option, so i will have to go with... BOTH!

In my experience, if it needs one frame rail, it needs both. Where are you located?

im located in Manitoba, Canada. but the guy said he knows someone who will fix the rail for $250. i don't have a pic of the 81 and i didn't see it yet but here is the 79:

Most of the G bodies were trashed by our aboriginal peoples in Manitoba. I got my 88 from Lampman, Saskatchewan. It got it for a non salt attacked body and it being Olds powered. I am now a gapper and loving it, track and many parts cars near by. Saskatchewan seems to use alot less salt, no wonder these old cars are still on the road here.

$250 is pretty cheap to fix that big of a problem. The body looks pretty good from this side but I'd defiantly get under it and do some more lookin around. Usually just one side doesn't rust, they both do. And look at the floors and trunk floor as well. It wouldn't be bad at all if it's solid.

oh i forgot the guy also said it was a California car. but ill go look at both of them on Thursday and see which one is a better buy. since i have an 83 cutlass im looking to get rid off due to rust problems. any one of those would be a better project

Well at least that '79 doesn't have a vinyl 1/4 top on it...

I had a '79 about 6 years ago... But I'm a bit more fond of the '81 and up bodystyle.
