I"m running 3200 stall and I had a comp cams xe268 for like a year oh so. I just changed to a bigger solid lifter cam. but I didnt have any problems with that much stall. I ran 13.39 on that set up with a 3.42 gear on street tires.

YOu have the 700-r4 transmission? Sounds like you have a relaible converter....what brand is it and how much ???

I appologize my transmission is a turbo 350 I ment to mention that. But my converter is a TCI with the anti ballooning plate and all that good stuff. So far it is have been really reliable. If your gonna race it I would highly suggest getting a converter with the anti ballooning plate. and since you are running a 700r4 I wouldnt go that high on stall unless you are running a 4.10 or shorter gear. low speeds rpm like at cruse with eventually ruin them. I dont know if you know this or not but the advertised stall speed is a "flash" stall. as in my converter will stall to 3200rpm when just hammering the throttle from idle or so. my converter will "soft lock" at about 2800 rpm. I run a 4.11 gear on the street on the highway I'm turning 3000 or above it also based on how much torque you make, if you make under the recomended amount the converter will not stall as high..

I have 4.10 gears in the car now and love the set up especially the o/d....best of both worlds. The motor makes approx. 470 Ftlbs. at 4000 rom...hope that answers...I'm thnking the 2800-3200 stall then correct?? I would just live to leave the line higher then 2000 is all.....With my set up I know I can get a lil faster though. Either way, 12.67 aint to shabby for a daily driver 🙂

HI i have used the redneck converters. i know 1 is in a truck with a 400sbc and th350 4000stall on the street. and it has the summit cam 488 and 510 lift cam it works good he loves it.

not really, its hard on the torque converter if your way under the stall speed. and 12.67 is a great time for a street car I'm headin out to PIR tomorrow to see if i cant get in the 12s. I'm running about 375hp and I have no idea on torque running turbo 350 3200 stall on a 4.11 gear. Just changed cam and I'm gonna put my slicks on and praying for the 12s that was my goal for this year. so far my fastest time is 13.39 on street tires with the same stall on a xe268 cam

If your brakes won't hold at 1800 why do you want a higher stall? Seems like you could use some suspension/brake/tire upgrades before you up the stall. Redneck performance has the best prices new, but you can score a good used one off ebay

besides about a 2500 stall(with tcc) all i really need is stronger brakes in the front

the breaks wont hold because of the low stall speed. I can foot break my car all the way till about 2700 or so rpm were is soft locks, after than it will push through. the real advantage to the higher stal converters is being able to flash the converter to a given rpm so it hits the tires harder. similar to how a clutch works but not as severe. thats always been the problem with automatic cars without trans breaks there wont hit the tires hard enough to leave the line really well
