That car is mint for Ontario, seriously.

There's always a battle between asking price and selling price. Worry more about what they're selling for, not what people are asking for. That's what sets the price for the market.
True. A Grand Prix in good condition goes for 5K, from what I’ve seen on average.

Idk. I am from Alberta so my standards must be high 😜😂😂😂

How did my Chevy Caprice with more body rot still have a better frame lol?

Well I’ll tell you why lmao- as the seller says the car was undercoated its whole life.

Then shows a giant crack in the frame, where the undercoated had STOPPED beIng applied.

And my ‘88 Caprice, despite being an Ottawa car from 1988-2020, driven in salt every day? Frame was undercoated, and had no where no that extent of damage.

He also lists it as 80,000KM, but says it might have rolled over. Thats fine.

But then the doors are also rotting by the chrome trim.

Meanwhile, I have found ones in better condition for the same price range.

I am sorry, like for 5K I expect some rust- but I also expect it to pass the safety part without having the frame there welded together 🤷‍♀️🤣🤣🤣

Rear frame horns, the curse of the g-body chassis. At that, you are looking at the bottom panel, if the sides are intact, that is an easy fix. I'd be more concerned about rust on the passenger's front floor pan in the vicinity of that verdamnt cat, should it still be there.

Unfortunately, G body prices have spiked recently. Unless, a deal of a lifetime comes along, missed one a few years back, I will probably stay out of the G body platform unfortunately. I agree way too high a price for the rot. I had a 1980 Dodge Van, well took the 318 out of it. It came from Ontario, idiot BIL bought it. The back doors were rotted off, latches held them on. You could pick up the body, rotted right off the frame. Any cars brought at auction, a couple of years old from down there were terrible corroded. Even my Saskatchewan Cutlass had slightly thin rear frame rails, they all rot there with Winter driving. The B,C,D,E were better built cars than the G body, including corrosion resistance for some reason. The RWD Delta 88/98 and Caprice were the car of choice on Reserves for years here. Talk about abuse, the Olds 307 powered cars lasted the best.

can't speak for the E cars, but the others had rear frames that were inside to the rear tires. what i mean is our gbody rear frame rails were set inline with the tires. while the big cars rear frame rails were narrower. this caused the snow and salt that was sprayed up by the tires to land on and in the gbody frames, but miss the big car frames.

When I was looking for my project I had the notifications set up for Cutlass' Canada-wide. There were a number of cars out west that I felt certainly had a pretty good value.

In the end, I still think I got a half decent bargain. My frame is good with the exception of having to repair some rust/thinning metal from around a couple of the body mount holes. But surprisingly the frame horns are good. The floor was absolute trash. Both sides, front to back. Rusty roof from having a landau top. Rear drivers quarter need to be replaced, but that's mostly due to a shitty repair job from a previous accident. But all in all, I only paid $1000CAD for the thing.

I did consider abandoning the project and finding something else. There was one for sale near me for a reasonable price that looked in pretty good shape for ~$2500. I would message back and forth with the guy, but every time I asked to come see the car, he'd ghost me. I had a line on a decent set of floor pans but they were a few hours away. Had to travel out that way anyway, Gave this guy one last chance, still ghosted me when it came to actually looking at the car. So bought the floor pans and moved on.

In the end, I still think I got a steal given what everyone seems to be asking around these parts. Most are asking $3000-4000k minimum and probably have just as many rust issues as what I already have. I'll guarantee, there's probably way more wrong with that Pontiac than what's in the ad.
