GM frames should not be undercoated. As I said many times before, GM wax dips their frames. Any coating applied over the factory frame wax won't adhere to it correctly and will trap moisture instead. With my dealer undercoated Regal they only undercoated the body and didn't apply any on the frame. The misuse of underbody coatings can make rust much worse.

Well, you are right.. in certain circumstances.
As that applies to hard, tar dried based undercoating like Ziebart which does trap salt and moisture.

Products like Krown and Fluid Film, do NOT from what I can tell have that same damage, based on owning two vehicles that had it, and both were driven in Ontario salt roads for 30 years and more lmao!

Fluid Film and other lanolin undercoatings attacks the GM factory frame wax coating leading to frame rust issues too. Basically the only thing you can apply over frame wax is more frame wax, not tar based nor lanolin based undercoatings. You can apply lanolin on the floor pans and wheel wells but keep it off the frame, same for tar based undercoatings.

Other option is to perform a frame off, sandblast the frame clean, clean it more with wax remover, then repaint with quality frame paint. To put it short, the GM factory frame coating is incompatible with most aftermarket underbody coatings. Only stuff like Nox-Rust can be used.

I applied lanolin coating on my Ford CVPI myself since it has a painted frame instead of wax dipped like GM. No one offers rustproofing in the Mid Atlantic for some reason despite the insane overuse of salt here.

Sounds like a business opportunity

That wax, would have to be intact though to make that an issue.

What you describe is a problem for sure, but the real issue is the INSIDE of the frames.

Not outside. Because despite the holes in the frame, the salt and other stuff gets inside and THAT is how the rot happens.

If it wasn't, you could just go through the car wash because there would only be surface rust.

But interesting, I wonder if someone does it privately there. Besides the lift, a spray gun and some oil or fluid film is about all tools required when you think about it 🤷‍♀️😂😂😂

The wax is still in good shape on my frame but I guess its something that varies for each individual car.

The inside of the frame is waxed but air bubbles could have prevented full coverage during factory dipping.

Other tool is a large drier blower to avoid trapping moisture. I did talk to a local tar undercoater and he said non of the lanolin jobbers are interested in expanding into my region. Even he doesn't know why. I can't find any environmental laws against it, perhaps car dealer trade groups?
