My Grand Prix is running fine, my Jeep not so much. Engine is a 76 AMC 304 V8, Holey 4 barrel and HEI ignition. Drove it a few days ago and everything was good. Tried today, turns over fine but no fire of any kind. Accelerator pump is working, but tried starting fluid anyway, nothing. Tried WOT with choke open, still nothing. Put a timing light on #1 wire, sparking right when it should. Pulled #2 plug and had spark there too, didn't try the other six, but with two cylinders sparking I ought to at least get a fart out of it. I'm stumped, any ideas?

from a Jeep forum.....

"If you have an automatic transmission try starting in park, also try in neutral. The shift lever for an automatic has stops to prevent you from putting it in gear. Push the shift lever against these stops. If this works and the starter runs then the problem is the safety switch that verifies that you are not trying to start the engine in gear. This switch either needs to be replaced or adjusted. "
