widest tire

new guy here...i was wondering what tire widest tire you could fit under the rear of my cutlass without modifieing it?

On my 83 Hurst with original 15x7 rims, I ran 245/60/15 in the back.

My dad has 275/65 or 70's on his with an 8.5" rear and they fit with no mods...looking at the clearance I doubt much bigger will fit.

16s are kinda an oddball wheel size

I have done 275/60 and 275/50s on both 15x7 GN & 15x7 442 wheels. That said I don't recommend the 50s on a 15x7. Both fit much better with 15x8s. Naturally that is the rear. Fronts work well with 235/60s.

I got 275x60x15 Nitto drag Radials on my baby with 15"x10" wide tires with 5 1/2 backspace.Then again I also have a 12 bolt rear from a 1969 Chevelle with UMI good stuff...So I have a lil extra wiggle room....
