Just wondering if someone can help me. I have a 1980 Malibu that a manual trans car, with factory tach & gauges, and a 1981 Cutlass that's automatic with the warning light dash. Both cars have the 305/4 barrel V8, and both cars have the single headlight setup on them. Both are non A/C cars. The front wiring harness on the Malibu has been spliced and repaired in several locations, while the front harness on the Cutlass is original and uncut. Will the front harness from the Cutlass (the harness that connects to the fuse box at the firewall) fit the Malibu? Is there a separate harness that connects to all of the engine sensors and connectors that plugs into the front harness, or is the engine harness part of the front harness? Just wondering if I can use the Cutlass harness on the Malibu, because its in better shape. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

there are two harnesses connected to the fuse box, one is for the engine and the other is for the lights, horns, etc. You can use the Cutlass harness. There is a 7 mm bolt in the middle of the connectors on the back of the fuse box. The bolt has to be taken out and the two connectors come off together and then separated.

i feel this is similar to my question.
Is the firewall connector wired the same for most G bodys?
I just got an 86 elco (I believe it was EFI as it has an ecu) and I swapped a carbed 350 into it. I have a tucked and trimmed harness from a 78 elco that I have run with the swapped engine.
Can I just unplug the 86 harnes from the firewall and plug in my 78 harness and swap the cluster so I have gauges instead of dummy lights?
