I hope this is in the correct section.

My question is... 84 SS...there is a sending unit near the distributor that has two wires coming from it. The wiring goes to a relay, ac compressor, and the choke I believe.

I am installing my LS engine and need to know what to do with this wiring. I hope this makes sense.

Not sure what the sender is. I ripped all that out of both of my Malibus but Im pretty sure your AC will have 4 wires going to the plug by the AC box. A red positive, the light green will go to the high idle solenoid and the black and dark green will go to the compressor.
What color are the wires ?

A pic would help. The only sender I can think of that might be back there would be an oil pressure sender, but I believe most if not all of our V8 cars had it located behind the power steering pump rather than at the back of the motor.

I will try and get a pic tomorrow.

It is an oil pressure switch, wires are light blue or tan with white stripe and brown.

The brown wire goes to the fuse block.

RPO LD5 uses the relay.

Blue wire powers the electric choke.

First picture is the oil pressure sender. The plug in the last picture got deleted when I redid the wiring in the wagon. The solid light green wire goes to the 4 wire plug for the AC. I ran that to the high idle solenoid. Are you saving the AC or deleting it ?

That sender in the first pic is not for may dash gauge, I my oil gauge sender is located by my oil filter. Yes, I am keeping the A/C. So, I can delete all those wires and run the green wire to the high side solenoid? Thanks, David

This is what I did when I was trying to figure out what to delete. I went from an early 350 to a 350/330 crate motor with the serpentine setup. The original ECM harness was still in my car but all but two wires were cut. I had the car running, cut the two remaining wires and the car was still running. At that point I figured I should rewire everything for the motor.
As you can see in the first picture the plug for the AC was toast. The piece that went into was a melted mess wrapped with electrical tape. I got a decent plug from a local junkyard and put all new terminals on both sides. If you notice the four wires you can see the solid light green. Red was power, dark green and black went to the compressor. In the second picture you can see the light green winds up in that flat plug. I was told its for the high idle. Thats where I put it. Does it work ? Havent tried it yet since the AC isnt quite finished. I hope it does. LOL When I have the AC charged I guess I'll know.
A lot of the stuff in the second picture got deleted. The rest was redone to the bulkhead connector on the firewall. Im sure yours will be way more wiring since you went with the LS. Thats the main reason I went with an old school SB. Wiring is something I dont like to do.
