Well, don't confuse asking price with selling price. He can ask whatever he wants. He also got the cam wrong - the 328 (not 329) deg cam is from a W-30, not a W-31.

Personally, i dont think he is out of line on asking price. go look at a complete 454 crate engine........

I put a better 455 together than that particular engine and I did it for way less than 6k. The machine shop even assembled it and i have less than 3k into it. I guess if people are willing to pay double then im gonna start building 3k builds and start selling them for 6k.

6k is nuts! it's a mild build with no real mods. i don't know about big blocks but sbc's olny cost that that much when everything is modified for tons of power. i think mine cost 4k with all ARP bolts and all new parts.

i guess io am looking at it as if i were to buy a pan to carb complete motor..... i crate sbc with a dcent build goes for around 4 grand and i could build the same thing for half of that with a junk yard motor........

Yeah but its not a crate engine, its just an old rebuilt engine. The Olds 455 is a fairly rare engine though, so I would think more like $4,000 asking price. :?
These engines are so powerful without doing any mods to them. My buddy 455OLDSMAN had his all rebuilt with a pretty much stock rebuild and that would break slicks loose at 20-25 mph out on the road, plus its got the stock Toronado cast intake on it.
