I tried something the other day that worked out pretty good but I think I'll make some changes next time. I sanded the drivers side plastic piece and cleared it. Turned out ok but I think I'll finish it off with a higher grit and dye first. Then clear. If there is a lot of scale like your's and parts of mine are hit with a wire brush first. Just use a light touch so you don't dig into the plastic. I'll post some pics when I find out where the wife hid the camera.
