Well today I got in my car, tried starting it, wouldnt go. Put some gas in the carb-throttle body same thing. fired right up. AHHA I love my life right now. First a ticket now I have this to deal with. What am I in store for guys. I am going to do take the tank down tomarrow. One good point, this might be why my car has run like crap so long, the fuel pump was bad all along.

Doesnt your car have a mechanical fuel pump? I dont think carbs ever used electric fuel pumps.

If it's a 4.3 V6 it has a TBI and not a carb, thus an in tank pump. If it has a SBC, it is a little tricky if you have never done it before, but as long as you have the fuel pump eccentric on the base circle it is not too hard to do.

Assuming the 4.3 V6, I would be sure to replace the "sock" (pre-filter) at the same time, and do a new fuel filter as well.

wouldn't you want to check the fuse, relay and the wiring for the pump before you dropped the tank?

I checked the

fuel filter it was good. Problem there might be I stripped the outlet a little bit when I tried bolting it back up. Im gonna have to shine it up real nice so it will go back together nicely. im certain its the pump because I dont hear it turning on. It has no sound with the key on.

I still think it's easier to check to make sure that the pump is getting juice to it before dropping the tank...but then that's just me.....

yeah check for power first. Simple=testlight. Anyone got schematics for him? My LS was originally injected and I lost power because of a bad wire right in the pump plug. Easier to check then to take it all apart and find out it was something simple. The wireing/plugs are right behind the tank between it and the bumper.
