Your right you dont.

I went 12.40'S with a 9.7 to 1 sbc 350 with a comp 501/501 cam and chevy bowtie heads in my wagon with th350 trans and 3.42 gears. Ran this motor for 7yrs with no problems was consistant. only removed for better motor

Built 406 sbc went 12.20 at 87 mph made 3 passes all where low 12's Brand new proform 750 carb killed motor squiter screws fell out sucked in to motor cracked number 8 cyl wall on 3rd pass :wtf: :puke: 3.42 gears th350

Built another 406 sbc went 11.50's ran motor for 5 yrs never had a problem until oil pump failed in the middle of a hard run bottom end trashed. Same trans just 4.10 gears this time.

So anyone who says sbc are not reliable I think not.
