    Bathroom Project

So, for about 6 weeks now, I have a finished bathroom. It started with a 4 A.M water leak from the toilet supply line and took just over 2 months and about $4300. Bad news is it wiped out the G-body budget and has dwindled my interest in the car. The day we moved in (Aug 2003): Before the...

Homes - are they really an investment??..and my bathroom

So I have been away from the Grand Prix since April :( . Fast forward to 3 weeks ago when I started an unplanned bathroom project that is becoming a source of frustration (started when a supply hose coupling nut to the toilet broke 430 in the morning...long story). Anyway, pulled up all the...

GM 7759355 - What does this part go to?

In the effort of cleaning out my pap's old shop, I came across a NOS GM part 7759355. Does anyone here have an old GM catalog and knows what this goes to? My guess is something in the 60's or early 70's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What to do with a Jeep after 40 years???

First of all, a little insomnia for me tonight. Anyway, the Grand Prix is on hold (needs exhaust, transmission line, and brakes line to get started up). The reason being is that I am helping clean up my grandpap's garage with 50 years of accumulation (think of the show Hoarding, Buried Alive). His...

    Transmission line routing with headers

Just curious how anyone here routed their transmission cooling lines with headers. I have a 200-4r behind a Chevy 350 and running long tube headers. I know the lines are 5/16" with a 1/2" flare nuts. Pics would be appreciated.

    200-4r cooling line question

So here I am with my first swap. The question I have is, what type of cooling lines do I need for the 200-4r transmission and what type of fittings do I need? The parts book I have calls for 5/16 line but no mention of fitting type/size. I bought a radiator from Advance w/ the cooler...

    Remote Mount Starter Solenoids

I am running a Powermaster starter in my 350 Chevy. In an effort to have easier access to my "hot" wire (for future accessory needs), I was considering using one of those starter solenoid kits that Summit sells. This would make things easier to wire for me. Has anyone had experience doing this...

Chevy Intake thread size brass plug

Does anyone know where I can find a brass plug to replace the temperature sending unit? The vacuum port behind the carb is the same thread pitch. Am I correct in saying it is 11/16-fine thread? I can't seem 11/16 anywhere.

    Fuel Line Fun

So I manged to replace the fuel lines in my Grand Prix. I bought a roll of 3/8" (fuel) and 5/15" (vapor) from Napa. I think the stuff should hold up as this is a spring/summer car. Most of this was bent by hand or as I shall say "where the car may take it" being careful not to kink it...

Junkyard find and what kind of car is this

So last Saturday, I went to Johnny's U Pull It here in Altoona (a new place). $2 to get in. Decent place, but unfortunately they have mostly stuff from the nineties. One G Body (80 Monte almost gone), a few F Bodies (V6 mostly) and a few B/C bodies. Anyway, i did mange to find a dual snorkel...

    B&M Quicksilver shifter in a 200-4R - question

So now that I am back at it with my GP, I replaced the column shifter with a B&M Quicksilver as part of my engine and transmission swap. Anyway, I have a question for those of you who used one of these shifters (or similar) with their 200-4R. I set up the cable, lever, and bracket per the...

Quadrajet (Q-Jet) rebuild with 200-4R TV setup

Ok, so I am back on the GP again. I am rebuilding a non-CCC Quadrajet that I *think* is from a 79 Trans Am (with Olds 403 and a THM350 auto). The stamping shows 17059258 that is going on a SBC 350 (to all you purists out there, this is where you scoff at me). Anyway, my question is whether or...

Hoping to get back on track with the GP

So now the Christmas has come to pass and my living room is done (finally), I am hoping to get back on to working on the Grand Prix and not get too frustrated. This is now going on year 6. Some of what I need to do yet: -Rebuild Qudrajet Carb (started, just finished the base plate repair)...

Transmission Fluid capacity and dipstick - 200-4r

Just as the topic says, does anyone know the fluid capacity for a 200-4r? Also, will a 200-C dipstick work in a 200-4r?

    Quadrajet Throttle Bushing

I'm planning on putting in bronze throttle shaft bushings for a qudrajet that I am rebuilding. I have access to a drill press and various drill bit sizes where I work. Anyway, I determined the shaft diameter to be 5/16" and the hole could be drilled to 7/16 (or slightly less). Here is what I...

First Time Carb Rebuilder - Qudrajet - Any suggestions

OK, I am at the point where I need to bolt up a carb to my engine. The rotating assembly (crank/rods/pistons) is known to work, but I replaced cam, lifters, and heads. So I need to break in the flat tappet cam and lifters. As my sig suggests, I have a 350 SBC with Edelbrock Perfomer intake...

Center Console for GP with B&M Quicksilver Shifter

I was wondering if anyone has tried using a facotry console with a B&M Quicksilver shifter in a Grand Prix or other G-Body Pontiac? I monuted the shifter to the floor, but the handle barely comes out of the console slot. I was looking and realized the Pontiac consoles seem taller than the...

    Steerring Column Tear Down question

I took the week off to work on my car. So many road blocks. Anyway, I have an 84 Grand Prix in which I am doing an engine swap (231 V6 to SBC 350) and among others things, also switching from column to floor shift. Anyway, I have a "blank" sleeve floor shift steering column from an 81 GP...
