Unless it's a limited use "show car", I wouldn't even chrome a stock pan. Remember, chrome holds heat in. Do you want your oil to start cooking in a chrome pot?
Guessing 160,000, odometer #s are off for being 60k. Not to say a car can't have high mileage and be kept in good condition at the same time. Still not 8k worth.
Is this on your 72 350 sbo? If so, sealent on threads won't work. All intake bolt holes are blind. Your oil is coming from somewhere else. Need a better indicator or pic of this burnt oil.
Same here, as far as smaller socket sets. For bigger sockets, I have an assortment of S-K, Snap-On and Craftsman. If I need something special, I hit the flea markets. Usually, I can find old craftsman ratchets and various sockets for pennies on the dollar.
If your junk engine is a 307, swapping in a 350 sbo is a straight swap. Rebuild costs depend on what has to be done machineshop wise and what parts need to be replaced.
