Broken block

I am getting rid of some of my old junk and I have a 3970010 block. The block is cracked across the outside starter bolt hole. Anybody know of a CHEAP repair for this or should I just chuck it in the garbage? Thought about selling it cheap for 20-30 bucks if it is worth it to somebody or like i said in the scrap/garbage it goes. Lemme know of a cheap fix, if there is one.

You could always use a mini-starter that has the dual pattern, then drill and tap the inner bolt hole. That's assuming there is still enough there.

edit-That might not work. I think when running the larger flexplate you are already using the inner bolt hole. So I guess you could got to the smaller flexplate then drill and tap a hole for the "new" location of the inner(starter) bolt hole.

Yea I am not too concerned. I will probably just throw it in the pile for the next scrap run. If there was an easy fix I would keep it, sell it cheap since it needs that fixed.

I hadn't thought of the mailbox idea but i did consider making some type of furniture out of it haha. I have the pistons, rods, and flexplate from that same engine. Thought about somehow incorporating them all into something cool

I've thought about using the flexplate as the backing for a clock.

Ya, I say make a mailbox. You wont believe how many people slow down to look at it, take pictures, etc. One of the best things Ive done to my house, plus the wife allowed me to do it.
