Carb stalling at low throttle

my '85 3.8 cuts out when I just tip in with the throttle from idle; theres no problem if I floor it, or go half throttle, but anything less, and the motor cuts out, and if I dont back off, and keep the throttle in the same place it will stall. Any thoughts why this happening?
