Hey everyone,

I have been following this site for a while and just joined recently. I've had this regal for about 1.5 years. Bought it on eBay sight unseen form Tennessee and had it shipped to MI. Its an 86 Regal with a Buick 455 in it. Got it to my house right before the dream cruise and worked on it for about a week, drove it to the cruise and it overheated =\

It was a paper weight for a while but I finally saved enough to start working on it and hopefully start cruising this summer. I've always worked in body shops and know a good amount bout paint and body but am a very amateur mechanic at best. This will be a good learning experience as I try to overhaul the engine.

I bought a cherry picker at harbor freight and hopefully will yank the engine out within the next week or two and get it to the machine shop (hoping nothing drastically bad happened!!) Once I know whats wrong the engine and how much parts will cost Ill make more decisions about the next steps...

I plan to get filler panels and a 3 piece GN spoiler soon. I have plans to get the suspension overhauled and lowered and last paint and body. She is a really clean car, no rust at all.

I will keep you posted on the build and if you have any questions or advice please share!!!

I've attached a few pictures below, let me know what you think!

I'm in Westland at the moment. Hopefully soon I can start taking pics of the teardown and build and start posting them up to see what you guys think.

Thanks for recommending this site, tons of great information about the 455. I'm nervous about my first teardown and build. Hopefully get the engine out within the next 2 weeks and take it to the machine shop...hopefully nothing drastic happened when it blew up on me at the dream cruise.

What do you mean when you say it blew up - when you do rebuild it I am going to suggest installing am oil pump booster kit. Depending on what year block you have - the 5/8 oil system is desirable.
The problems I have seen is taking out the rod bearing in (I believe) #7.
