I've been helping a couple members with Q Jet issues, so ordered (eBay) a few to rebuild.

Got this one Friday and oh my my!!! Can we say pea nuts???

Please don't send carburators packed in Styrofoam Pea Nuts!!!!

At least gasoline dissolves these, but adds another labor step.

While I appreciate the effort to keep it from being damaged just put it in a plastic bag first
Some will put it in a plastic bag and then spray foam it in the box so it doesn't move.

Man who still uses packing peanuts? Those air-filled plastic bags are the best thing since sliced bread.

Oh man, what a pain. I'm a fan of good old crumpled up newspaper since it works pretty well and I get new reading material for the bathroom. Speedmaster sent me parts packed with newspaper from China, which I found interesting yet slightly unprofessional for a company of that size.

It would have been easy to just wrap in kitchen plastic. Then if all they had was the pea nuts..., no harm no foul. I'll just blast it with air and any left overs will dissolve in the solvent. It's just a pain and extra step. I'm not knocking the shipper, I got the carb for a good price. But Oh My gosh...

Well got the peanuts out. Soaked in Berryman, then purple power degreaser, then scrub scrub scratch scratch with the brushes and finally looks like something.

Ordered all the electrics and choke pulls. About $100, but if any one needs a carb let me know. 17080504 is the build code.

Dirt, grime, red and black paint, and rust.... Yech.

Inside still needs some work, but pic of bowl is why you can't just take a car that has sat for years and expect it to run right. Pic of the bowl is after soaking over night, originally it was about ten times worse.

Well, not done yet, at least I don't feel like I need a tetanus shot from just looking at it.
