Plz Help 455 Buick Front Seal

This is my first buick engine the front seal is leaking do i really need to remove the timing cover just to replace the crank seal? If you can help thanks ...

Yes, the seal goes in from the back side of the cover. Order a new seal from TA, I could not find one to fit after two days with two different seal dealers searching here in town.
