I am trying to figure out what spark plugs to use. I have done a lot of searches and everyone has differing applications. Some guys like hot, some cold, other want more power, other want better reliability. (BEFORE you tell me what plugs YOU are using please read the following and take into consideration my engines characteristics, you will just confuse me more if you tell me what you use, but you have a different application, I am easily confused!)

1. Gm Goodwrench 350 Crate Motor, bored .30 over so around a 355?, stock crank
2. Edelbrock Performer Cam with matched lifters and stock length comp cams pushrods
3. Edelbrock Timing Chain
4. Edelbrock Performer EPS Vortec Intake
5. GM Performance Cast Iron Vortec Heads
  • # 170cc Intake Ports
    # 64cc Combustion Chambers
    # 1.940'' Int/1.500'' Exh Valves
    # .475'' Max Lift
    # Straight Plug
6. Headers
7. NO EGR
8. Estimated (by the engine machine shop) 9.1:1 Comp ratio with 87 octane gas
9. Magnum Comp Cams 1.6 ratio roller rockers
10. Edelbrock 1406 Carb
11. Stock style pistons

Questions to consider: What should the operating temp be? "hot" or "cold"? I am trying to make a engine that gets good mileage and decent street power.

you need to read your plugs first to figure out what you need, use some regular ac delco and go from there

The engine was just recently built. No plugs have been in the engine yet.

call gm performance and ask them what plugs they suggest. i think the vortecs have a longer reach plug compared the the reg chevy heads.

I think I have narrowed it down further thanks to this website.

Now I just need to figure out which matches the heat range of my engine.
