Will always be my cup of tea. Or in this case my gass guzzling block of iron.

As long as the internal combustion engine lives, my future child/children willl know everything there is to know about cars. Boy and girl. As a Junior in highschool is pisses me off to no end all these wannabe tools who have their daddy's F150 or a 300$ shitbox and think they're hot sh*t but couldn't change the shift knob if they were given the parts and a how-to Youtube video.

If you don't crave it - get introduced to it - or grow up with it - it isn't going to happen. Cutty, this is where you make a living off of it supplying the want a be's.

I guess that's where my Motorsports Engineering degree will come into play lol.

It is pretty simple, most people, especially kids don't like old stuff. Have heard many kids say how they don't like the old ugly boxy cars like G bodies, in their words. Many younger people are clueless around old car bed engines, even modern mechanics are helpless around a carb, so it is a generation / technology gap as wide as the grand Canyon. Kids don't want old NES, they want the latest X station stuff.

A few years ago while using a search engine to find some G body information, came upon a post on a Mazda 3 forum. A kid there was given a monte carlo LS, he wanted to dump it as quickly as possible to fund his Mazda 3. Adults are also bad about this, buying new cars frequently is a status symbol, driving something older than 3 years old presents a negative image. Lastly, Wallstreet wants everybody to be in deep dept, loaned money is counted twice and increases the GDP.

This way of thinking does not apply to my 15 year old. He cant wait for me to hand over the keys to the Cutlass to him.
He has seen go from a pile of crap to a working breathing part of the family in two years...with his help of course.
All his finds think he is old school, but he doesn't seem to care he really like the style and looks of the older cars.
Every other day he shows me a Pontiac or Olds or Chevy on Craigslist he is wanting.
On the other hand his older brother could care less.

Where I live in Wisconsin I see a lot of younger kids 18-22 that out of highschool are working and still living with thier parents. They have the money from working and are supported by mommy and daddy so they go out and finance a newer mustang, camaro, or lifted diesel bro truck. I on the other hand decided to buy a house at 22. It had a 2-1/2 car garage in the back yard and after getting settled knew I wanted to find a project. I always have liked the gbody car don't really know why. Before I picked up my first gbody the only wrenching I ever did was oil changes, brakes, spark plugs, and air filters. I now am in the process of doing a transmission swap (hopefully be done this weekend). Point being I bought my gbody to learn how to work on cars with most of my knowledge coming from this very site. I think most people my age (25 now) just don't have any intrest in doing the work themselves. They'd rather buy than build. I on the other hand get a great feeling when I do something new on my cutlass just because I know I learned something.
