Perhaps this is true in Canada (and a lot of the rest of the world), but here in the states, most non-commercial vehicles are not subject to any kind of inspection.

Yep, we have a lot of junk on the road
they just changed the rules here in Ontario for a safety on a vehicle that is mandatory every time it is sold. Now we have to have stock suspension along with a bunch of other stuff. As far as junk on the roads we have that here to cause there is no inspection on a car unless it is a really obvious that the car should not be on the road. You can drive around with poor brakes if you want and that is why I hate tailgaters. I can stop faster than most cars with good brakes.
