Just wondering about all these driveshaft loops. Most look cheesy, made from light tubing an flatbar. Seems alittle pricey.

So did you buy or build yours?

I was thinking about buying a kenworh W900 rear axle u-bolt, they come in afew different sizes starting at something like 5 1/4" width and solid 5/8" an larger size rod, an also a wide variety of lengths.

And for the cross section either use flatbar or square tubing, couple holes for u-bolt an tie it to either floor or frame, depends on front or rear of vehicle.

I know they aren't expensive to buy but why buy a toothpick when for half the price you can get a tree!!

I think the idea is that they aren't intended to repeatedly be catching thrown driveshafts lol. I'm sure 7/8" u-bolt will catch many before you'd need to make a new one.

I had a driveshaft let go about 15 years ago, an at time l had a simple light flat bar one an ripped it right out of the floor. Still have the car an loop, but that loop is no longer on car, it's in a box somewhere.

They were mandatory for NHRA for certain classes .Especially 4 speed cars. Especially when the front one brakes and "pole vault your car.

I like your U-bolt idea...
🤔

I’m with LilBowtie, I built mine.

I chose to incorporate it into the transmission crossmember tho (ensuring of course it was within the necessary distance from the center of the U-joints to appease the racing techs) in case I ever wanted to do some track events.

I also made it two piece for easy crossmember and driveshaft removal. Sorry, this is one of the best pics of it I have.
