Driveshaft Loop?

That surprise me that with that BBC you used it in back too. The one l had is the same but red, loops fine, floor not so much when driveshaft let go.
I am not sure why you wouldn't have one in the back regardless of what engine you are running, if I ever break something I want it contained as much as possible.
 
Also, not sure if you did on yours or not when it tore through the floor, but you’re supposed to reinforce the top side of the floor around the bolts that go through with that style loop. Thick fender washers are usually sufficient.

Just thought I’d mention it.

Oh your right an it wasent reinforced, lesson learned!!! It was an easy fix, flattened holes back out, brass and MIG done!

My comment was more about l would have thought you'd use a heavier one.
At 1/4" thick and 2" wide with grade 8 hardware holding it together I felt these where more than adequate to do the job.

You may be right an l may be just over thinking this, but l 'll feel safer welding a driveshaft loop crossmember in at the rear.

I don't race or drag but l do like to let it eat now an then. No better high!!

I made my own because nobody made one that works with an 80e or t56 and a 3.5" DS.

The reason all the ones are flat bar is because NHRA says it must be 1/4 thick 2" wide OR some diameter of DOM.

In the back I have 1/4" plates welded in with 7/16 Grade 8 nuts welded to those and the driveshaft loop mounts by running the bolts though these plates, it's a strong set up that still gives me a removable rear loop.

OK now l understand, l was thinking it was just bolted to the floor an done!

It's alway that second it breaks free that's the worse an main output of force after that a piece of wire can hold it spinning.
