305 Exhaust mod

Not wanting to spend $ for true dual exhaust I replace moved the cat and replaced the stock muffler with a single in dual out Series 40 Flowmster for a 69Camaro. 3inch in 2.5 outs makes the little 305 sound not so little.Wife not like the house windows buzzing much.

My BIL did that on his 86 Monte LS, stock 305. Stock Y pipe to a single glass pack with no cat, it did help performance a fair bit.

Be careful about this, deleting the cat converter is highly illegal under Federal emission laws. The cats in SSs are very high flowing wide mouth units, the MCLS cats, not so much.

I assume that you mean Cutla-SS ?

I mean the Monte Carlo SS, they use a higher flowing cat than the Monte Carlo LS. The MCSS cat uses wide oval, 4 bolt flanges on both ends while the LS cat uses a slip on flange on the engine facing side.

In Ontario you can pulled over by enforcement and you'll receive a ticket for altering the emissions on your car. I have 2 high flow Magnaflow SS spun cats on my GP

I had that same exhaust on my 78 Malibu 25 years ago. It was actually a Walker option. Stock exhaust in the muffler with 2 tailpipes out.
