I recently came across a good deal on a new sending unit. I only thought about replacing mine due to the fact that I wasnt getting any fuel to carb, my gas gaugue wouldnt work and my lines are opposite side of my fuel pump.
I have an olds 307 no computer in a 79 regal.
So i ended up just ordering some braided fuel line to reroute the lines to my passanger side.

I ended up tracing the fuel lines and made original 5/16 vent line into my main feed, the 3/8 line in to my vent and kept the original 1/4 as a return since it runs along the passanger side but routes back to driver side. So now i have my feed next to pump.

My question is , is this safe? Is 5/16 good enough for my 307. Or am i just dumb and should stop trying to f sht up like my brother say.

If you are running a new line anyways I would go with at least a 3/8" hardline so you can support future upgrades.
I ran a 8 AN line from my new tank to my carb for my Regal.

GM used to use 5/16" for small blocks and 3/8" for big blocks so you'll be fine with the 5/16" but like 565bbchecy suggested running a new 3/8" feed line would make sense

Thanks for input. I didnt necessarily run a new line all the way from tank to pump. What i did was, dropped the tank , put new sending unit in and then noticed that the line that ran closest to my pump was nearly similar to the original feed line that runs on driver side(opposite side of pump). So i added some line to the original vent line along with a fuel filter and ran it to the feed side of the sending unit.

The pre-bent stainless tank to pump lines I used were 3/8". The original V6 lines on my '81's frame were 3/8" too.

So they may infact be the same size? I could hardly tell they difference by looking. I assumed they where different because the fuel line i purchased was easier to put on one than the other.

To be honest with my dealings with our cars since the early '90's I've only seen 3/8" lines but I can't say they all did have that size.

I do apologize , english is my 3rd language and writting and completing sentences...lets just say im not very good at this.

I have 2 lines on my driver side and one line on my passanger side. The smaller of the two lines on driver side actually runs along the pass side but routes back to driver side. My canister goes on the pass side of car, so i assumed that line was the vent line. My car 79 regal had originally a front mounted distributor which would make the fuel pump on the driver side. My307 has the pump on the pass side.

So i traced the pass side (og vent)line to the tank, added some fuel braided line with fittings to a fuel filter and from filter to new sending unit feed side.
