Dipstick broke off

Has anybody run into this before. Pulled my dipstick out on my 383 stroker and this is what I found

Looks like it got in the way of the crank.

SBC blocks with block-mounted dipsticks used a tube from the pan rail partway down towards the bottom of the pan to prevent dipstick/roatating assembly interference.

I did not know Chevies used that too. I often come across Pontiac "rebuilders" that leave out the lower dipstick tube. Snapped off dipstick is always the result.
