For this event I ran the car with full weight and some extra. That means I had all of the seats and interior in the car, a full tank of gas, and the kids steel framed car seats. This was to see what impact it had on the car (balance, acceleration, etc). I must say that augmenting the pedal paid dividends after a feeling out period in the morning session where I was retuning myself to the power delivery (ran the car with some traction control). In the afternoon I took off all the nannies and gave it the beans.

Here are the class results:

Best times are in yellow - and if not for that pesky cone I hit when I got out of shape a little I would have finished in the middle of the class (shoulda, coulda, woulda). There were a lot of surprised faces at how much the car improved (leaps and bounds to be honest) as the day went on. Shaving a full second off between run 5 and 6 is substantial. I am really starting to appreciate this car. On that 55.8 +1 run I was told that my rotors were glowing (in broad day light)... so I may have to lighten the car back up again. LOL.

This is that run:

And in case you were wondering what it says on the sign over the driver's door:

my son's St Bernard pup came running when he heard your supercharger and sat here twisting head trying to figure out what it is...

Working on some heat management. Damn car is like an oven underhood.

Didn't even use my Dremel once (or the sawzall... LOL). It is made out of 0.250" thick UHMW; this was my first time using it - and it was a total chore (aluminum and/or a body saw would have helped a lot). But, it is thermally suitable for underhood activities. The stock hood insert is about 0.325" and it doesn't seal very well to the hood or the airbox; letting in lots of underhood heat. So, my goals were to add thickness (0.500" total) and seal it properly to both the hood and airbox. All of this was achieved as it is air (light) tight all around - and now there is a nice straight shot to the filter.

File folder magic.

All tucked up in place; love that factory attention to detail. Disregard the buttonhead screws, the holes are countersunk and the hardware is in the mail (it should be here tomorrow).

Any perceptible difference in IATs?

No idea. Haven't tested it yet, need the hardware to secure it properly. I only expect more blower whine, cooler IATs will be a bonus. But, the weather is cooling off now so it won't be emperical.

Nothing special to report about today's racing. The weather was perfect, the course was mostly favourable to the larger MOPAR, yet for some reason it really neutered me (and a few other more talented drivers in other classes). Had a blast none the less. The cold tire pressure was 34/28, and got closer to 36/30 hot - but I kept trying to get the rears back down to 28 between runs; as you can imagine these cars heat the rear tires up pretty quickly and hot lapping doesn't help this. Full interior, car seats, full tank of gas, etc etc - I am mostly still just working on the driver mod at this stage.

Managed to forget my GoPro's memory card today - so no fancy overlay videos; D'oh! Fortunately the family stopped by to provide some (much needed) moral support. Gotta build that next generation of motorheads.
