I have a 79 el Camino and I’m trying to find out if this wheel/tire size combo will fit in the rear of my car, it’s on air shocks and wheel will be trying to tuck.

RIM: 15x10, backspace 5.50”, offset 0
TIRE: 275/60/15

thank you

The tire is really too small for a 10" rim and without a frame notch the tire/rim will hit the frame.

Am I missing something? A 10" wide wheel with zero offset will have a 5" backspace, not 5.5".

Either 5 or 5.5" of backspace is not going to fit without spacers. Even with spacers, it will be a tight fit with a 10" wheel in the wheel well - maybe.

0 offset on a 10" rim would be about 5.5" for backspace because you measure to the outer rear lip.

Alright thanks man, Do you have any suggestions on what size wheel and tire I can stick under my car that will tuck and be wide ? I’m willing to roll my lip a little if I have to.

I like running a 275/60R15 on an 8"-8.5" wheel which is taller, a lot of people like the 255/60R15 which is shorter.

If I use an 8.5” wide wheel what backspace would you recommend ? And would it still be tucked inside the fender if I put a 275/60R15 on the 8.5” wheel ?

Usually on a Gbody the backspace is within a 1/2" plus or minus of 4" backspace for a 15" wheel the best way is to take careful measurements to figure out what will fit best on your El Camino since fitment varies across the different Gbody's and tolerances are kind of loose on these cars.
