How kind of GM to put all those nice slots in the frame so three or four marques of engine mounts could interchange.

Pontiac people right now....
Well I am running a Pontiac 301 so I voted "Pontiac small block". That is the closest thing. Pontiac people may not agree but then they don't even consider the 301 a Pontiac. I think it is just perfect for a G-body since it is light and peppy. Mine is a 1979 4 barrel version and I have a 4 speed Saginaw behind it.

The 301 is actually the same deck height as the 303 that almost became a thing. I love my 301. I'm planning a build. I'll post it when it happens. Won't be any cheaper than a regular Pontiac build but I like the mileage of a small displacement motor since I DD my car.

Small block Olds 350 in my ‘80. It was a no brainer when I upgraded from the 260. Pull the distributor and ancillary items and slam the new engine right back in place. I have a 455 Olds under the bench if that itch comes to pass, but I have an idea about the possibility of building a Ram Rod 350 waaaayyyy down the line. Would need to source a vintage ‘68-‘71 350 for that idea. The one in my car has the webbed mains, so that won’t cut it.

I think mostly purist with engines, just seems right to me. But then again back in the day anything was on the table in the name of going faster. To each their own I guess. 👍

I have a SBC 350 in my 83 Buick Regal. Stock bore and stroke with flat top pistons, vortec heads, comp xm270h cam, and some ebay intake... Definitely not my first choice of engine for a Buick or how I would have built the engine for any g body.

This engine was put together to replace the tired old 85 truck 350 in my 1978 Chevette... Would have been ****ing mean too.

The Regal with the new engine the same Camaro T5 and basically the same rear ratio, only with larger tires runs way stronger than the smaller Chevette ever thought of being.

That's why I run mine. I'll post my build. I just found a T block. Snowmageddon has delayed my acquisition of said gem but I will perservere
I get 20mpg all day long. As much as I like the 400, it was more like 10mpg.

I'll start out with the boring : turbo LS in my car and my son has a World Products Motown LS (turbo of course) in his. The Motown LS creates alot of questions when the hood gets opened. Friebergur even called it an LS at Drag Week until ..... he was corrected. Then interesting conversation developed.

Regarding Snowmageddon (like the title ;) ) - I've watched too many videos of burst pipes and 'horror' stories of trying to survive temps in the teens when you're in a home/apartment - is that for real or just the usual media hyped up garbage? I ask, because if this is the life and death crisis described by the media, then Texas residents have fallen on my evolutionary chain of intelligence. Lack of water, yup, that sucks and is a dilemma. But freezing to death in a house at 15 degrees ...... hmmmm......left me shaking my head. Then I realized the source was our over dramaticizing media and I hoped it was just hype.
